Maybe they could put it on his young son to hold till he came of age, but only if it returned to Cyrodil. If he had it, it should've been lost in Akaviir, again leaving the Elder Council, and the people of Tamriel, with no way to keep the Compact. If Uriel V left it in Cyrodil, wouldn't that break the compact with Akatosh, set in place by Alessia? He wouldn't be wearing it. None of his men were seen to clutch the Amulet, and get IT back to the ships, at any rate. If this is all true, how did the Amulet of Kings return to Cyrodil, so the next Septim Emperor could receive it? So eventually Uriel VII could receive it, and give it to you? It doesn't sound like Uriel V's body was recovered we can't even confirm he died. We know that Uriel Septim VII later has it, to give to the hero of Oblivion, to take to Martin, who then breaks it to summon Akatosh, and fight Mehrunes Dagon. We know it predates them (it appears in ESO). We know that the Septim emperors wore the Amulet. So, this might seem dumb I could easily get bits of this wrong, but Uriel Septim V was a dragonborn emperor, bearing the Amulet of Kings, which kept the Dragonfires lit, and the Gates of Oblivion closed.

What I want to discuss, however, is something Nate didn't directly comment on. I was watching Youtube, and a really fun video on the mysterious demise of Uriel Septim not Uriel VII, who bows out in TES IV: Oblivion, but his predecessor Uriel V, who invaded Akaviir, and presumably perished fighting the snake men.
